We Don't Have A Revenue Problem
Submitted by Anthony P. Archie on 1.19.2005
SACRAMENTO, CA - Last week, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger released his proposed state budget for fiscal year 2005-06 amidst the buzz surrounding his reform agenda. The governor focused on the state's profligate spending as the source of our deficit problem because, as he rightly noted, "we don't have a revenue problem.'' Despite this, there are still those who see the state's fiscal woes as an opportunity to tax Californians more.

Submitted by K. Lloyd Billingsley on 1.12.2005
SACRAMENTO, CA - In his address last week, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger called for a 401(k) style defined-contribution pension system for state workers. In a January 24 hearing on pension issues, state legislators should consider the evidence for why such a system is necessary. Lucrative disability pensions are becoming the rule rather than the exception in some counties.
Arnold Drops a Nuke on Teacher Unions
Submitted by Lance T. Izumi, J.D. on 1.5.2005
SACRAMENTO, CA - Arnold Schwarzenegger is proving that he is truly the reformer that Californians hoped he would be when they elected him governor. While his rumored budget reforms got the most buzz before his state of the state address, his proposal to overturn teacher tenure and link teacher pay to merit and performance epitomizes his willingness to take on the powerful special interests that control Sacramento.
Flawed and Outdated Public-Pension System Earns California Golden Fleece Award
Submitted by Lawrence J. McQuillan, Ph.D, Anthony Archie on 1.1.2005
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s plan to modernize California’s public-pension system would help re-establish fiscal stability. The current system is consuming larger shares of the state budget and putting taxpayers on the hook for billion-dollar bailouts.
