Where Does White House Health Overhaul Policy Go Now?
Submitted by Clark Judge on 8.31.2009

On Sunday the Rasmussen organization reported that 42 percent of likely voters had told them they strong disapprove of the president’s job performance. At this rate it is not out of the question that the new year could see this number break the 50 percent mark.

UC system shouldn't have to fund labor institute
Submitted by Kevin Dayton on 8.30.2009

Under duress from California labor unions and union-backed politicians, the University of California system is funding a labor institute at the Berkeley and Los Angeles campuses that trains union organizers and produces biased studies to support the union political agenda. The story of why UC is funding this program at the expense of academic programs emerges in 140 pages of university documents obtained through a Public Records Act request.

The California Prosperity Project – Assessing California’s economic performance
Submitted by Senator George Runner on 8.29.2009

From the start, California has enjoyed unique natural economic advantages over other states, from its regional location and deep sea ports to its temperate weather and year-round fertile agricultural land. Our world class university system, cutting edge research and development centers, and an ample, willing and able workforce would also seem to point to boundless success for the Golden State. With all of these advantages then, why has California lost its luster?

Submitted by Lawrence J. McQuillan, Ph.D on 8.29.2009

The Pacific Research Institute (PRI), a free-market think tank based in California, today released Tort Law Tally, a new report identifying which state tort reforms reduce tort losses and tort insurance premiums the most.

What we need
Submitted by Steve Williams on 8.27.2009

In an interview with the Competitive Enterprise Institute and the Pacific Research Institute last week, Tom McClintock — one-time candidate for governor in California, one-time member of the state’s Assembly and Senate, and now a member of the House of Representatives — offered an opinion about why this state is a mess. “California remains one of the best places in the world to build a successful small business,” he said, “All you have to do is start with a successful large business.”

The Reagan Revolution and Its Discontents
Submitted by Steven F. Hayward, Ph.D on 8.26.2009

Some years ago I had occasion to hear Sir Martin Gilbert, then in the midst of producing the official biography of Winston Churchill, discuss how he became interested in writing history. His answer was simple — curiosity. As a small boy, he wondered why bombs were falling from the sky on London, why he was being packed aboard a ship and sent off to relatives in Canada, why his uncle in the army came back from captivity in Asia some years later weighing less than 100 pounds.

California is getting left in the dust
Submitted by Jason Clemens on 8.25.2009

EVEN during an economic meltdown of the proportions being suffered now, base politicking doesn't stop in California. When asked why Golden State finances have been doing so badly, officials are quick to point to the national recession, claiming it has slowed down local industry and decreased the amount of revenue brought in by taxes.

California as a Warning for America
Submitted by Fred Cox on 8.23.2009

Your current President is following the exact same path that has been followed by the State of California! If you don't know, California is the 7th largest economy on the planet...and notice where they have landed...virtual bankruptcy. It is a long and educational read...but give it a try.

Huyen de California por crisis
Submitted by Yolanda Arenales on 8.20.2009

En los últimos cinco años el estado ha perdido un millón de personas, según estudio de expertos.

California ranks low in labor
Submitted by Danny Bernardini on 8.19.2009

It's commonplace for civic leaders to badmouth the way the state treats small businesses, but now they have something to backup the claims: A research group recently ranked California 48th in the nation in labor performance.
