Earth Day is truly a cause for celebration
Submitted by Erin Schiller on 4.22.1999
Most Americans regard the environment with both pessimism and anxiety. A 1999 U.S. poll on environmental issues by the Wirthlin Group confirms this sentiment: three-quarters of those polled believe that environmental problems will get worse during their lifetime. Such fears are largely unfounded, however, because any way one looks at it, U.S. environmental quality has improved dramatically since the first Earth Day in 1970.
