Recent invectives directed at the Bush Administration obscure a significant but ignored story: the steady and continuing improvement in U.S. environmental quality. That trend is certain to continue during the Bush years, despite demonizing by groups that view the president as the equivalent of an Exxon-Valdez oil spill every day.

Environment is Greatest Success Story of Last 30 Years, Study Finds

San Francisco, CA — The vast improvement of the U.S. environment is one of the great public-policy success stories of the last generation, according to the Index of Leading Environmental Indicators 2001, released today by the California-based Pacific Research Institute.
