Atlas Economic Research Foundation

Please join the Atlas Economic Research Foundation for our 25th Anniversary Celebration in San Francisco, California on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Twenty-five years ago, Antony Fisher founded the Atlas Economic Research Foundation in San Francisco to help create, enhance, and mobilize independent public policy organizations all over the world. Atlas wants to see free societies develop all over the world, and we believe this depends on winning “the battle of ideas” – a battle that cannot be won without local institutions making the case for human rights, economic freedom, civil society, the rule of law and limited government. That’s why Atlas works as a catalyst for the development of independent think tanks that can develop a public consensus in favor of a free society.

Nobel Laureate Milton Friedman, a friend and neighbor to Fisher at the time of Atlas’s founding, recently wrote Atlas President Alex Chafuen noting:

“You certainly have done a marvelous job in expanding the reach of Atlas, of coming close to Antony’s dream of a worldwide network of think tanks promoting liberty . . . Atlas’s coverage of the work on behalf of liberty is truly remarkable. In seventy or more countries, it is helping think tanks spread an understanding of free markets or engaged in creating think tanks that will do so. More power to it.”

On Thursday, June 22nd, we will return to San Francisco for a Gala Dinner at the Four Seasons to celebrate this progress – and to bring attention to how much potential still exists for expanding this family of freedom champions. We are pleased to announce that John Stossel, anchor of ABC News’ 20/20 and author of Myths, Lies, and Downright Stupidity: Get Out the Shovel-Why Everything You Know Is Wrong, will give the keynote address. Father Robert Sirico of the Acton Institute in Michigan and former Mongolian Prime Minister Elbegdorj Tsakhia will also give special remarks at the dinner. Prior to the Gala Dinner, we are organizing a special afternoon conference, “Prospects for Liberty in Asia,” at the Four Seasons, which feature think tank leaders from India, China, South Korea, Vietnam, Japan, and Nepal.
