Last week, the American Association of Retired Persons launched a major campaign to allow Americans to buy "cheaper" Canadian drugs. In addition to a blitz of television and newspaper ads, the 35-million member senior-citizen organization has turned up the pressure on drug companies and politicians to legalize Canadian imports.

The bill before this committee would authorize the CA State Board of Pharmacy to begin a program to collect and distribute information about Canadian pharmacies over the Internet. If it were to become law, it would be little more than a state-sponsored publicity stunt that would put California in the position of using its scarce resources to violate federal law.
