INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIESThe Pacific Research Institute internship program provides a practical hands-on experience for students who are interested in preserving free-market principles and individual liberty. PRI interns will have the opportunity to work under close supervision with our research policy directors, development and journalism departments in our headquarters in San Francisco. PRI will provide educational experiences in a real life environment that cannot be obtained in a classroom setting.
PRI internships are for undergraduate, recent graduates, graduate students, or law students. The internship program may be coordinated with a participant’s college program that provides college credits toward graduation. Our internships are available in the fall, winter, and summer and are unpaid, volunteer positions with flexible hours and days.

The following departments have openings for interns:
Education Studies Department Under the supervision of the director of education studies, interns will have the opportunity to assist in the research on various education-related topics that include but not limited to publications, films, papers, and special projects. In addition, the intern will have the opportunity to write opinion editorials, letters to the editor, and other opinion pieces.
Health Care Studies Department The health care studies intern, under the supervision of the director of health care studies, will participate in the coordination and implementation of a research based survey of states’ implementation of Obamacare (the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act).
Journalism Center Interns will work directly with the journalism team in Sacramento to assist in reporting on news, writing articles and columns, blog and edit. In addition, interns will be able to observe Capitol briefings and hearings and interview legislators.
Development Department The Development intern will be able to work on a variety of projects and will gain valuable knowledge as to the essential role that fundraising plays in a public policy think tank. Interns will learn the application of a database management system, how to research foundations against a certain set of criteria, assist in the execution of events and learn the fundamentals of proposal development. Prospective interns should be detail-oriented, show strong writing and oral communication skills, and be able to work as part of a team.
