Dr. Schiller is a San Francisco psychiatrist and is Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry of UCSF. His undergraduate and medical degrees are from The University of Chicago, and he is a graduate of the Yale University psychiatric residency program. After completing his research fellowship in mental health services research at UCSF, he has continually worked in public hospital settings, most notably San Francisco General Hospital, while pursuing a part-time private practice.

Dr. Schiller also holds a Master’s degree in economics. This background has helped form a foundation for healthcare economic and policy analysis that he has conducted as Senior Fellow in Medical Studies at the Pacific Research Institute. In addition, he has been very active in a broad range of legal, financial, and organizational reforms within the medical system as the California state chapter President, long-time Board Member, and President of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Schiller writes frequently on issues affecting the health care system and his writings have appeared in such publications as the New York Times, Investor’s Business Daily, Orange County Register, and California Banker. He has also frequently appeared on TV and radio such as on NPR and various well-known radio talk shows. He has been asked to testify before the California state legislature on a number of occasions and was a member of Bill Simon’s Healthcare and Counterrorism taskforces.
