Letter to the Editor:

Terry Patterson, who responded to a column I wrote with a letter to the editor, should be careful what he believes on Wikipedia.

Martin Durkin, producer of the Great Global Warming Swindle is certainly a maverick and comes in for a lot of flack from the left. However, one should attack ideas and scientific shortcomings, rather than the man.

Durkin paraded superbly qualified scientists throughout his documentary, many of whom authored or reviewed Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports and whose credentials are far better than Al Gore's.

Al Gore is more about theatre than science. He presents his own opinions, rather than facts.

The numerous authors of the climate change panel brought a lot of what was defined into the report, as well as junk, too as the snippet on malaria showed.

Unfortunately, what is invariably most publicized in the media is the extremely deficient summary report written by politicians and non-governmental organizations, not the real scientists, with all the cautionary language and uncertainty removed.

It is a corrupt process that does disservice to many of the scientists who contributed. Many of them baled out rather than participate as they and Durkin revealed.

Edee Klee, who also responded, does not like to believe the current global warming and cooling is mostly solar power related. Why not? It has been that way for the last few billion years, and flawed computer modelling based upon an inadequate understanding of climate processes does not change that.

At least Klee had the courage to watch the Great Global Warming Swindle. I wonder how many of those who saw this documentary had their faith in Gore jolted more than a little.

His views on pollution do him credit but are misplaced in our society. He should hope that we do not export more jobs to less energy-efficient societies, or the situation will get much worse than he might like.

As far as pollution and the quality of our environment is concerned, he should read the annual summary of environmental indicator issued by the Pacific Research Institute at pacificresearch.org.
