Think tanks deal with ideas, and as you know, ideas do have consequences. We believe in the idea of a democratic society of free individuals taking responsibility for their own behavior, a civil society with a limited government, and economic activity taking place in a free market. These are the principles to which the Pacific Research Institute is dedicated.

As former Ambassador Jeanne Kirkpatrick has often said, “Think tanks monitor and criticize government policies and serve as a resource bank of new ideas and personnel. They debate issues. In all these activities they have greater freedom than do government officials to explore new ideas and elicit reactions, and greater practical experience than academics in doing so.”
