The Full Monty
Capital Ideas
By: K. Lloyd Billingsley
5.22.2001

At San Diego State, where my son and daughter earned their degrees, Monty Montezuma will no longer be running along the sidelines leading the cheers. Davis’s Bond Scheme Ignores Reality
Capital Ideas
By: Lance T. Izumi, J.D.
5.10.2001

Free Trade and Politically-Correct Reporting
Capital Ideas
By: K. Lloyd Billingsley
5.3.2001

The recent summit of the Americas in Quebec City did not produce an agreement bringing free trade from Alaska to Argentina, which would be a welcome development. But it did show that political correctness is alive and well among reporters. Take, for example, the coverage provided by taxpayer-supported National Public Radio, which bills itself as a provider of high-quality reporting.

5.3.2001

A Federal Communications Commission (FCC) order released April 27 may be the first step in tying up a loophole that is lucrative for competitive local phone carriers, such as Pac-West or Focal, but bad for consumers. The order centers around something called "reciprocal compensation."
