Tim Anaya – Getting an Early Warning About the Next “Big One”
Caltech’s Dr. Lucy became a big star in Southern California in the wake of last week’s major earthquakes. The hero of California’s next big quake – whenever, God forbid, it hits – could be the state’s “Shake Alert” earthquake warning system, which is under development and is currently in the testing phase. Sensors are being placed along fault lines that will eventually give Californians in harm’s way of the next “big one” an alert on their phones a few seconds beforehand to get out of danger.
