For the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, states have started removing people who are ineligible for Medicaid benefits from the program.
Democrats have responded with hysteria. The Biden administration is pressing states to slow down and keep as many people as possible enrolled in the program.
Democrats are fundamentally opposed to anything that would reduce the number of people dependent on government for insurance coverage. They continue to urge the 10 states that have not yet expanded Medicaid to people making up to 138% of the federal poverty line to do so. They’ve made people with incomes up to six times the federal poverty level eligible for federally subsidized coverage. And now they want states to take it easy on auditing their Medicaid rolls.
