What We’re Watching – March 22

Tim Anaya – What Crime Victims Have to Say About Gov. Newsom’s Actions on the Death Penalty

This week on Right by the Bay, I wrote about Gov. Newsom’s startling actions on the death penalty. My piece argues that justice for crime victims and their families are clearly not one of the “bedrock values” that the Governor talked about. Here’s a short video of the loved ones of outraged crime victims speaking out on the Governor’s actions, along with Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert.

Ben Smithwick – Seattle is Dying

Despite its provocative title (“Seattle is Dying”), this news special produced by KOMO-TV in Seattle is worth watching. The documentary takes an in-depth look at homelessness in the Emerald City and features interviews with residents and business owners who are frustrated by the city’s response to what is clearly a growing crisis.

Kerry Jackson – How to Debate Right Wingers

Most will recognize this as satire, but those who are being satirized are more likely see it as an opening of their playbook.
