Ben Smithwick – Honoring Sen. Bob Dole
Earlier this year, former U.S. Senator Bob Dole was promoted to the honorary rank of colonel in a ceremony at the World War II Memorial on the National Mall. Senator Dole served in the Army’s 10th Mountain Division in World War II. He was seriously wounded in combat and received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster.
