Tim Anaya – How One Irish Family Transformed Their 4 Bedroom Home into an 89-Room, 4-Star Resort
This week, I returned from a two week tour of England, Scotland, and Ireland. At our final destination in Limerick, I had the opportunity to stay at the Fitzgerald Woodlands Hotel and talk with the founder Mary Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald tells her story of transforming their four bedroom house into a bed and breakfast. The family all moved into one room, while guests took the other 3 bedrooms. Today, Fitzgerald has built her family-owned business into an 89-room, 4 star resort – complete with spa and an organic farm. The hotel is located right near where the 2026 Ryder Cup golf championship will take place. I couldn’t help but think that Fitzgerald would probably never have been able to achieve her dream in California, amidst the myriad regulations and taxes.
