When you take a closer look at the data and the record, South Carolinians should tell Newsom on his next trip – we’ve been there, done that, and the California Way doesn’t work.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom recently barnstormed South Carolina on a two-day, presidential campaign-style tour, touting what he calls “the California Way.”
Light on specifics and heavy on partisan red meat, Newsom told Palmetto State audiences that the California he leads is “the most un-Trump state.”
When challenged to a debate by Congresswoman Nancy Mace, he responded on X, “so you don’t want lower homicide rates . . . lower taxes for working families . . . free pre-kindergarten” and a litany of supposed California success stories.
As a Californian who has worked on state policy for more than 25 years, let me attest that our once-Golden State is not the big government oasis Newsom portrays it to be.
